Will Bezard is the luthier behind Bezard Guitars in Big Rapids, Michigan.
“Some of my earliest memories are of a desire to play the guitar. I started playing at a young age and lucked out with several fantastic teachers over the course of my childhood. Despite that, as a young adult I struggled to grow personally and professionally. While working a minimum-wage job and close to failing out of community college, I became aware of lutherie as a profession. Before the age of 22 I had never considered that as a possible career path. I found the Galloup School of Lutherie and spent the next year or two saving the money for the school. The experience I gained from that school changed my perspective in a fundamental way that has helped me sustain in lutherie.
The end of that journey was in 2015 and shortly after that I ended up working for the legendary Rick Turner, and over that period time I was afforded the opportunity to grow through all positions in his shop. Considering my musical interests and background, Rick’s shop was an unlikely place for me to go, yet it has so far been the most important part of my journey.
After working for Rick for 6 years, I have returned to work at The Galloup School of Lutherie in order to continue my professional development and contribute to the developing minds of our craft. At the center of what I am doing with the guitar is an immense passion for the guitar and what it does. What I want to provide to players is a guitar that accomplishes their functional needs and speaks to them in an aesthetic and artistic fashion, while also being the most wear resistant, hazard proof, and beautiful guitar I can come up with.” – Bezard Guitars
